About the Director

Krishna Mishra is an Indian filmmaker whose journey reflects resilience, reinvention, and a deep commitment to meaningful cinema. Beginning his career as an actor in regional and Hindi films, he later transitioned into direction and production under the mentorship of veteran actor-producer Sujit Kumar.

With over three decades in the film industry, Mishra has worked across Bhojpuri, Hindi, Punjabi, and international collaborations. His films have been screened at prestigious platforms including Cannes and international film festivals in the United Kingdom. He is the founder of Shree Hari Om Films and is currently developing the historical-spiritual series The Great Monk: Swami Vivekanand.

Early Struggles & Industry Evolution

In 1989, Krishna Mishra left his rural hometown to pursue cinema in Mumbai. Coming from a farming background and married at just fourteen, he carried significant responsibilities early in life.

Shree Hari Om Films

Krishna Mishra founded Shree Hari Om Films in 1995, marking his entry into independent production. The banner focuses on socially relevant, culturally rooted, and spiritually inclined cinema.

Vindhya Darshan

  • Vindhya Darshan is a documentary film produced in 2000 in association with Uttar Pradesh Tourism
  • Showcases the spiritual essence, cultural heritage, and scenic beauty of the Vindhya region

  • Highlights prominent temples, pilgrimage routes, and local traditions

  • Designed to promote tourism while authentically documenting the region’s religious significance

  • Combines devotional depth with cinematic storytelling to create an immersive cultural experience

Wounded

  • Inspired by the life of former bandit Seema Parihar
  • Set against the backdrop of the Chambal ravines, showcasing harsh ground realities

The Great Monk: Swami Vivekanand

Krishna Mishra’s most ambitious and spiritually driven venture.

Development Highlights

  • Auditioned approximately 5,000 artists

  • Cast largely theatre performers for authenticity

  • Production delays due to the pandemic

Alakh Niranjan
